The Princeton Singers is a small, professional, independent chamber choir. Founded in 1983 and now under the direction of Steven Sametz, The Princeton Singers specializes in a cappella harmony and performs to the highest standard, unaccompanied choral music of the sixteenth through the twenty-first centuries. Our mission is to advance the choral art and share the joy of music with audiences in the Princeton area and beyond. With first-rate musicianship, clarity of tone and innovative programming, The Princeton Singers has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s preeminent chamber choirs.
In addition to performing choral music of earlier periods, the group maintains a commitment to presenting contemporary music reflected in the frequent programming of innovative works by 20th century composers and its ongoing commissioning arrangement with Artistic Director, Steven Sametz, whose compositions have won widespread acclaim. The group also includes culturally diverse works in its programming on a regular basis. The Princeton Singers has been featured on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today” and “With Heart and Voice” and have broadcast for the BBC, in addition to having recorded eight CDs, which are sold through various on-line outlets, including our own website, www.princetonsingers.org.
